Acer driver for windows 7

After windows 7 arrived, many acer laptop user including me try the beta version and now there are several version available. So, the question after the installation of windows 7 is the driver.

HOW TO GET ALL DRIVERS FOR MY ACER (WINDOWS 7)?

Before we do some installation, please run automatic updates and see if there are any updates for your driver.
to check your driver installed or not, just simply click start, on the box type DEVMGMT.MSC and press enter, you should see a windows open with list of your devices. If you see any yellow mark,then you need to find driver for it.

1. Ok first of all the new model shouldn't worry about it because Acer provide the drivers (if you don't have ot or dont find it just leave your comment, ill list it for you) - it all should be listed in acer support page.

2. for bit older model - your vista driver may work. If not try right click on the installer and select properties, then select compatibilities and select windows vista, the click apply. After that right click again and select run as administrator.

3. Find the drivers on the components manufacture site. Every model has it own manufacture, sch as audio eg: Realtek . So if acer just provide a vista audio driver for realtek. just simply go to realtek site and download the latest driver for windows 7.

4. For very old model - maybe quite difficult for you to find several driver. and some of you can't event enable aero. Ok for this one i can assist you, just give me your model and your hardware ID.

P/s: if you like to do some experiment, why not try download driver from other model but with same manuufactre component, and same model, say atheros AR5xxxx, download and test, but please if you new to hardware and driver, please don't try this experiment on your laptop. cheers

Compaq Audio Driver

Compaq have many model that equipped with certain manufactures audio components. From my experience working with Compaq/HP, there are 3 major type of AUDIO component they use which is REALTEK, IDT - high definition audio devices and conexant.

The problems occurred When Windows Vista arrived, many laptop such as CQ40 and CQ35 model have problems with windows XP installation and installig the Driver especially AUDIO. However i have write posts to solve the problems which you may refer here:

Slipstreaming guide here is a method for those who do not have external floppy drive. And for those who have the external floppy drive may install the XP directly without the slipstreaming process.

Dual Touchscreens Laptop - The "Acer Iconia"

As i read the news, normally i won't post any of them in this blog, since i create this blog for drivers only. Anyway here is something interesting I read today, the Dual Touchscreen Laptop by Acer named Acer Iconia.

Acer Iconia features two 14-inch screens: one is the man display while the second one acts as the touch keyboard. Both are designed to have 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. While Techtree state that  it supports 1280x800 pixel resolution. To avoid the screens scratched  both of them are protected by Acer’s Iconia Gorilla Glass technology.

Performance and SPECS.

It using the I5 processor which for good enough for performane and... 4GB DDR3 RAM / 640GB HDD. hows that sound?It  features Windows 7 as its operating system. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G.Its 4-cell battery however only provides up to 3 hours of use. You can also connect the Acer Iconia to HD TV using the HDMI port.

From myy point of view, the other advantage of having touchscreen keyboard is it overcome the problems using a cover for normal laptop keyboard (to prevent dust).
Annyway,I'm thinking to get one when it available at Malaysia, but maybe when second model comes out because as always - 1st model is test , 2nd model is improvement.

Find Model Name, Product Code, Serial Number and Service Tag for SONY

Notebook computer model names begin with the letters "PCG", "VGN" or "VPC" and are located on a small label on the frame around the LCD display or above the keyboard. The label is normally the same color as the case with contrasting letters.

NOTE: Do not use the "Model" listed on the grey label on the back of the computer as this will not provide the correct information.

Combination Label:
Some models may have all model information combined on one white barcode label located on the bottom of the computer. The label may be located anywhere on the bottom of the computer so it may be necessary to look carefully to locate it.





Separate Product Code / Serial Number and Service Tag Labels:
On other models, the Product Code and Serial Number are located on a small white barcode label and the Service Tag (only on some models) is located on a second label on the bottom of the computer or behind the battery. The labels may be located anywhere on the bottom of the computer so it may be necessary to look carefully to locate them.

Content Rating for Android Market

Providing users with more information about applications on Android Market has been a top request from Android users. Starting in a few weeks, we will be showing content ratings for all applications on Android Market. This new capability will provide users with additional information to help them select the best applications for them.

Android Market’s content policy remains the same as before: applications will be rated according to four content rating levels: All, Pre-teen, Teen, & Mature. Details on the rating levels can be found at Android Market Help Center.

To prepare for this launch, starting next week, developers submitting new or updated applications will be required to include a rating for all applications and games uploaded onto Android Market. In addition, developers will have the next several weeks to add a rating to their existing applications and games. Once content rating is visible to users, any applications or games that do not include a rating will be treated as “Mature”.

We are working hard to rapidly deliver improvements and upgrades to Android Market. Please look for more Android Market upgrades in the coming weeks. Thanks for your continued support and please don’t hesitate to give us feedback on what else we can do to make you more successful with Android and Android Market.

10 things - Number 8: Download and Install the BlackBerry Desktop Software

You can use your BlackBerry quite happily without needing to install any software on your computer, especially in a corporate environment. In a consumer environment however, it is very beneficial to install the BlackBerry software onto a computer. It allows you to easily move audio and video files onto your BlackBerry (even converts them to the correct format automatically) and synchronizes your address book and calendar.

10 things - Number 7: Use your BlackBerry as a Thumb Drive

If you have a memory card in your BlackBerry and you connect it to a computer with its USB cable (PC or Mac, Windows, Linux, or OSX), the BlackBerry pops up a message "Do you want to turn on Mass Storage Mode?". If you say yes, your computer will see the BlackBerry as a new drive letter. You will be able to drag and drop anything from your computer to and from the BlackBerry. This is a quick way to get media to your BlackBerry, but more importantly it allows you to carry around important documents with you all the time.

10 things - Number 6: Buy a Memory Card

Today's BlackBerrys are full of multimedia features like cameras and video cameras. The BlackBerry Media Player can play many audio and video formats as well as display pictures. To really benefit from these features I recommend buy a Memory Card.
If you do not have a memory card, you can fill up your BlackBerrys internal memory quickly as you take pictures or video. When a BlackBerry gets close to running out of memory, it starts deleting old emails, calendar entries, address book contacts, etc. This is its self-preservation mechanism. As your BlackBerry runs out of memory it also becomes sluggish and sometimes things stop working they way they were intended.

There are a few typing shortcuts that further speed your BlackBerry typing.

• Press <space> twice to get a period plus a space.
• Hold a letter to switch it to a capital letter.
• The BlackBerry automatically capitalizes the first letter after a period so this would be used when typing a name in the middle of a sentence, etc.

Market Housekeeping Alert

We’ve had quite a bit of discussion in this space recently about how to make sure that your app is visible in Android Market to any device that can run it, and only to those devices. In particular, check out two recent pieces by Reto Meier, Future-Proofing Your App and The Five Steps to Future Hardware Happiness.

As Reto points out, Market used to infer some <uses-feature> settings for older apps that were uploaded before certain device features arrived. This hasn’t been the case for applications uploaded since June of this year; developers have had to be careful about <uses-feature> and its android:required attribute. From what we see, it looks like most of you have got this sorted out and things are working smoothly.

However, there are still apps that haven’t been re-uploaded since June. In preparation for introducing some new Market features (that we think you’ll like), we’re about to launch a re-scan of all those legacy apps, looking at their Android Manifests and updating Market’s database. This means that if you have an app that you haven’t updated since June, and it lacks up-to-date <uses-feature> settings, it may stop being visible on certain devices.

We think the set of apps that will have this problem will be small, if only since most successful apps are updated regularly. If you want to be sure, check Reto’s advice here under "Android Market Rule #2”.

We’ve said it before but it bears repeating: There are a lot of different sizes and shapes and flavors of Android devices in the product pipeline, and you want your app available on every one that can possibly run it. So this is an area that is going to be requiring attention from developers on a continuing basis.
